Editing Services
We believe that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work in the author’s favor when it comes to publishing a novel. Ultimately, you would end up paying extra for services you may not need. That is why here at (Writer's Journey), we will listen and guide you with multiple options available based on your needs. The process is simple. If you are interested in two editors for the price of one who will care about your project and provide timely and excellent service at a reasonable cost, then contact R.B. and Laura on our contact page. We will guide you through the editing process.

Both packages include all four types of editing: Line, Copy, Content, and Developmental editing. What is the difference, you may ask? See descriptions below:

Line Editing:
Line editing focuses on the style of your manuscript. R.B. will take the following steps:
1.) Look at your prose, the flow of your writing, tense, description, and other stylistic matters that can make or break an enjoyable reading experience.
2.) Provide a line-by-line, detailed review.
3.) Make changes to the manuscript with explanations for you to approve.

Copy Editing:
Copy editing focuses on the mechanics of your story. With a high attention to detail, R.B. will complete the following:
1.) Comb through the manuscript to ensure your writing is polished and look for spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes. Proper capitalization, subject-verb agreement, dialogue tags, consistency, and word choices, as well as optimal areas for power phrasing. 2.) Identify and provide power and error scores, then ensure the manuscript is technically correct and reads to perfection.
Developmental and Content Editing:
Laura's process includes the following:
1.) Laura will read the entire manuscript and present an overall summary of what works and what does not. Things like flat characters, plot holes, confusing scenes, not enough tension, and unclear character motivations.
2.) Summary will also state what’s working well so you know what to keep. It focuses highly on the big picture of the story.
3.) Take a deeper look at the structure and details of your manuscript and its overall flow. Will the tone and voice appeal to your target audience, and will it provide the feeling that you want to engage readers? Laura will mark suggestions throughout the manuscript in detailed notes.
Throughout the process, Laura and R.B. will communicate about your manuscript to ensure we can provide you with comments and suggestions that are not conflicting. We will always ensure we are on the same page and that you understand our results.
If this all sounds great, please review the packages below. Once you have your selection, visit our form on the contact page.
Note: Writer's Journey does not support the use of generative AI for creative arts. If you have used an AI program to create the plot or write your book, please disclose this.
